True...it does get a bit grubby there too
The aerodynamic shape of the car. Hatchbacks in general are not great for it, but the 500 seems one of the worst.

Tell me about it. Sometimes I dont want even to open the boot because my hands get so dirty!
There are pretty cheap decent car washes around here for like 5 euros but its rainy season so i dont see a point in washing a car for it to be just as it was 2 days later. In a few weeks i'll give it a proper wash.

Luckily mine is grey so you only really notice it when you touch it but with BNW i guess you need a personal car wash machine!
Opening & closing the boot is easy due to the button on the keyfob, and the handle inside I can use to close it again. No muck

I have found that the mudflaps on ours does keep some of the filth off, but it does still get dirty, accentuated by the fact that our own car is black, so we ain't ever really going to win in the cleaning stakes during the winter months. Aerodynamics don't help at all either in the dirt stakes!
Mostly though, I do what FloJo and Chrisilda do when I'm loading all of the shopping on behalf of the wife, into the cavernous boot, and use the nylon strap to shut the hatch. Always use the remote too, to open the hatch.

The pull strap on the current motor is pretty substantial compared to the one on the 500 (I really could only get a finger into it) so I was surprised to see the Alfa boys putting an even bigger replacement strap in. Room for improvement on the 500 and a nice upgrade if you have a friendly shoe maker.:idea:

Interesting comment - ours is just a week old and it's immediately obvious the back end gets dirtier than other hatchbacks we have had.

Yes i remember you saying that before ,regeneration has started large euro grant ,the whole seafront is being transformed inc a vertical pier ,plus housing estates demolished and new ones replacing etc looks promising for once,
