Hello!

For about 2 years ago my dashboard, which is digital, started to flash and acting wierd. On one and same trip it can go from being normal, to flash, to be totally gone (everything is black) to showing all numbers/signals (example 888 on numbers etc.) If I knock it hard with my hand it can change.
This is bothering me, but I really like the car so I am wondering if someone could help me?
I am greatful for answers. Today I removed the dashboard from my car, so it's in my room now, so I will be ready to take a look at it.

Blessings,
Svein Ola, Norway.

Hopefully just a loose contact.

You should clean all the copper contact strips. A pencil rubber or fibreglass brush is good for cleaning oxidation off the contacts.

Next, inspect all the connectors in the dash. Look for contact finger spaced too far apart, broken or missing.

With this all done then if the problem persists then you will have to dismantle the instrument cluster further, looking for internal problems like dry solder joints or other problems.

Another possible cause is a bad power/earth connection at the other end of the cable loom. For this you will probably need a viring diagram.
