software update is the first thing to make sure is done, then go for test drive with DET. Sadly not many salesman ensure the customer is familiar with the stop/start system.

hi!

the guys at my garage- a hartwell fiat knew nothing of a software update- and it is the one fiat tech that was wrking on it-

it has been flagged to head quarters- is this software update widely known?

it is becoming obvious that this issue isnt isolated- how will fiat uk or spa know if there is a widespread issue?

no ones s/s has been fixed yet! and all of us experiencing faults rather than quirks

diagnostic registered nothing on mine- jimr123 having a similar situation.

how do i suggest they do something they dont know about?...will this get fedback by fiat?...is there some kind of flagging of common faults?

This is my first post and not a happy one either.

I collected my lovely 1.2 start stop week last Friday. In less than 24hrs I also had the warning light on my dash and the start stop sign showing as not available. I switched off the engine twice for it to go. However I've also found when I'm in traffic and driving slowly and using the start stop function this light comes on and start stop isn't then available. I've also had a problem when I've been stopped at lights and start stop is "working". I've put the car into 1st and gone to accelarate and the car won't start, this has happened frequently over the past week. I've had to attempt to put the car into 1st 3 times for it to move and it did on the 4th attempt. Not good when your at lights with a row of cars behind you.

I've phoned the garage and they've suggested I take it in for someone to talk me through how to used the start stop as they aren't familiar with it either. Having read similar problems on here I'm glad it's not me. However I am concerned that they have no idea what to do about it. Has anyone managed to fix their problems yet and if so what did the garage do?

sorry for long post, I am hoping and will be most grateful for any advice.

hi!

stay tuned to this thread- we have the same situations so will resolve hopefully, and whoever gets there first will feedback!

for the starting issues in s/s guise, just keep clutch depressed when it misses, dont touch anything else, it should fire much quicker, 2nd time max- if you release the clutch etc it trips the system up more...mine did this much more to begin with, 5-10% of times, no down to virtually nothing. also- other than some regularity in how the warning light gets triggered, it hasnt got any worse- in fact it comes on much much less in normal driving- it came on sunday during use at a r/bout, first time not just reversing cold in many weeks!

however the warning lights are not part of normal s/s operation- normally if system under load you will just see in centre dial 'stop start unavailable'

keep us posted of your experience!!

Hartwell, I went there for a testdrive and the guy was so not bothered about selling us a car it was funny.

they were great at the sales- first went in jan to spec up a car, pulled out, they kept calling and emailing, and i did go there to buy in june!

unfortunatley this is new tech that theyre struggling with-

i did think to myself, its new, will it be debugged!...shouldve listened to myself!

i would have had the calypso blue sport sat the other side of the showroom otherwise!
