my LG TV was working in the morning ok

then when put on in the evening the screen is blank

its switching on, and the sound is playing

if I put a light to the screen there no image inside [if the backlight had gone, there would be image if artificially lit up]

is it likely to be the logic board?

On some TVs, you need very strong light pointed at the screen to be able to see a feint picture, indicating that the back-light is not working.

have done that, its just black

got power and sound

so think its the logic board

Have you looked up the model number to see if there are known fixes there are a lot of people who go round buying up broken TVs for next to nothing, swap out a few blown capacitors and then all is well again.

When my Sony sound bar died I found out there was a very common problem with cheap capacitors failing

Might be a loose connection or damaged cables. Ours suddenly gone black all of a sudden when we were watching. We took it back and they replaced the LED panel.
