spent last 4 hours or so checking the car and its def got a diesel leak somewhere.

checked where advised in a previous post, removed engine cover and checked all hoses etc around the fuel filter and followed them around the engine etc to the fuel pump however i cant find any signs anywhere of the leak,

however when u look under the car when its running there is a steady stream of diesel leaking out and cant seem to figure where its coming from,

does anyone have any ideas whatsover where it can be coming from as my drive is like a swimming pool of diesel now

hello

surely someone on here must have some ideas as to where the leak might be coming from

thanks

I think you will need to get underneath and make sure you havent got a damaged fuel line, maybe a stone has flicked up and cracked it?
As far as i know it should be blue:confused:

hello

had a look underneath but def cant see any blue lines the leak appears to be coming from above/behind the stump and i have checked everywhere for this just cant find it at all.

where does the fuel line run under the car? is it down the centre or on the drivers side?

Check the drain at the base of the fuel filter.

Mine cracked around the knurled plastic part and diesel pished out. It was temporarily fixed (for about 18 months!) by screwing a bolt into the threaded hole.

The correct repair is a new fuel filter of course...:D

Hiya, which side is the leak from? Drivers or passengers?
I assume it's also from the front of the car?
What I'd do it put some clean, dry card or paper under roughly where the leak is, start and stop the car briefly till you get a small drip and then look exactly where it's coming from above that, not forgetting that it can travel along metalwork etc.
Let me know what you find and I'll see if I can help pinpoint it better. :)

its hard to pinpoint exactly where drip is coming from as like u say it travels along the sump/exhaust etc but seems to be exactly in the middle above the sump just cant pin point exactly where

its def nowhere on the top/front of engine or anywhere where u can easily put your hand from above if that helps

need to sort it asap as i only get 25 miles from £10 diesel today

zundapp

there is def no leak on my fuel filter ( right hand side of engine bay near strut top ? )

checked everywhere at top that i can any more ideas

hello

my model is the 2001 x plate 1.9 td elx if this helps. is the return manifold easily accessible and easy to repair and how much will it cost to repair

thanks or your help

Its normally the later ones that give problems, but worth a look especially in this area. Follow the spill off pipe to the black manifold collector box at top of engine above the high pressure pump. Also check around rear of pump.

hello

cheers for advice but the leak is def no where near the top of the engine as i spent over 4 hours yesterday checking everywhere that u can possibly see/reach from the top of engine bay. cant get underneath tho as ive not got a set of ramps or axl stands.

the fuels still leaking out but as stated its gotta be underneath somewhere as there is no visible signs above of a leak

hello

u know where the sump plug is on the bottom of the sump thats where it roughly comes from drips from there and along the exhaust as well

so im assuming that its leaking from just above or behind the sump plug area. dunno if thats where fuels lines run?

getting kinda stuck here and mobile mecanic wants 35 quid just to come tell me there a leak which i cant afford

it must be coming from higher up & dripping down. you need to look again closely at the fuel rail, injectors & spill pipes and manifold collector as there is no fuel pipe around or just above sump area.

hello

cheers for the reply

ive traced all pipes that come from the fuel filter along the upper rear section of the engine to the fuel pump( ??? ) on the right hand side of the engine but i def cant find any leak whatsoever. i cant even find a wet patch on the top of the engine that would indicate theres a leak there at all.

ive reacher behind the engine and felt about but still no joy everything is dry so im stuck as to where to look its really annoying me now

dont suppose u have any more ideas??

is it the bl;ack round thing thats on the bulkhead near to the fuel pump??

im kinda stuck here so not exactly sure what im looking for

is the fuel pump the section thats bolted onto the right hand side of the engine?? it has one pipe that comes out and so far down theres a t piece with a thinner pipe coming out. thats the only pipe that i struggle to see not sure if its a breather pipe as when i uncouple it the engine still runs fine and no diesel comes out
