im about to go debadge my car now, are you guys 100% sure(as in the guide) that its ok to pour boiling hot water onto the paintwork??

cheers

Dave

Yeah its fine. I was concerned when I did it but had zero problem. I used a little bit of WD40 to get off any residue I think

I did it mine and it worked perfectly fine. I also got one of my mums spatulars (which she was not happy about) :(.

The hot water will soften the glue the gently o behind the badge with the spatular.

Dont worry if you leave some glue on. Use T-Cut or Autogleme paint restorer to rub the glue off.

One word of warning though- if your car is red, I would consider leaving them on, or at least getting one badge off in-tact first, as red fades particularly badly, and even though you won't notice it normally, the paint behind the badges will be a completely different colour!

me cars orange, i got one badge off and its ok, but i need to buy some t-cut to get the rest of the glue off, cause i got a glue outline that says 80sx lol

a quick rub with petrol will get the glue off and petrol doesnt harm the paint

Vodka also works (anything with alcohol will do - though a can of john smiths might just make a mess, lol)

i dont got any of that in me car let alone having some around :(

ahh vodka,... brb .... i hope il have some left by the end of me using it :p

ok vodka, petrol, and t-cut , its still there

anything else know what will take this outline off?

this is it, havnt tried that yet

is it actually glue, or just a mark / stain or whatever you want to call it?!

if it is glue them use your finger nail to get it off, then more cleaning stuff.

only had a tiny bit of glue left when i did mine and thats how i did it, hot water and finger nails

2 questions

*Has your car even been in a smash (i.e. has that panel ever been resprayed?
*and, Is your door rubbing on your arch where that gap is?

KeithR

umm regarding the gap, its the angle i have taken the pic at and the dorr was not closed properly, the gaps are small and both the same on each side

must just be a build up of petrol, t-cut, vodka, mr.sheen and fingernails then, lol :)

Erm, i dont know what to suggest, when i did mine, i used boiling water to remove the badge, then sprayed it with mr. sheen, left it for 10 minutes, then washed it all off with boiling water. And ive never had to touch it since apart from it needing a good polish afterwards.

Cant imagine why yours wont budge???
