I haven't been on here in a while but i took the plunge and for an early 21st Birthday present i bought a 07 Red TJet Punto and traded in my Mk2b

Its great, well....

I took it for a test drive and loved the car so i decided to buy it.

Dealer advised me that it needed new disc and pad all round so not a problem, done under the sale.

I then took delivery of the car a week later after the prep. Brakes were squeeling as soon as i drove off. I came back and spoke to dealer and told they are new brakes and needed braking it as surface dust etc. Anyways after a week and 250miles later they still squeeling so i rang up and booked car in to be looked at (earliest slot was 2 weeks later) so i carried on driving and has clocked up 1250miles before it went into garage, consistanly squeeling when braking.

I noticed that when i cleaned the car, it was quiet for about 5miles under braking.

Anyways.

It went into the dealer, and 4 days later it came out like new they said and all squeeling stopped. I checked the bodywork for scuffs and then sat in my car to drive off. As i pulled off, it clunked repeatedly. I stopped after moving 10ft and it squeeled under braking.

I went back to dealer where i was told they have broken the suspension, either the mounts and whatever they had done. The brakes are squeeling still, they had no answer for. They never told me they broke the suspension and the service lady said it was fine to drive, watch for potholes. (Im not stupid and complained for the manager)

I was offered a courtesy car, this had no petrol in and had to call AA after 2miles to take me to petrol station (i could see petrol station but had to jerry can and garage had non to sell or help push) but thats another story tbf and on my complain list.

Its now been nearly a week with my courtesy car and the dealer have told me the parts are on back order. A long wait i guess.

I got it touch with FiatUK regarding the squeeling brakes as on here i read that there is a modified brake pad/disc to reduce this... they have reported its a characteristic of the car as new pads/discs have no asbestos in or along those lines.

My first finance payment has just gone out of the car. Where do i stand?

They will be fixing the car all under warrenty or their fault etc.

I also read on here similar problems with the dealer....Arbury Walsall. Service Lady is thick
Service Manager is thicker.

What would you do?

sue lol. erm i would go to trading standards and citizens advice to see what they would advise. also right a nasty but polite letter to fiat hq saying about your service, and name the dealership, manager and service lady.

As post above, speak to trading standards, the dealer has ultimate reponsibility due to selling you the car, also, depending on the type of finance deal you can also write to the finiance company (recorded delivery, save a copy etc), they also have some responsability as they 'own' the car.

As hard as it is, avoid calling them thick :p as this may/may not be the case, its not going to get things resolved :)

My dealer broke my suspension too when they fixed another part of the suspension under warrenty, and I'm still waiting to find out if they will cover this under warrenty. They broke my shock absorber, which is a wear and tear item and isn't covered under the third year dealer warrenty.

The car went in with this part working and it came out not working, so why should I have to pay for it to be fixed ...

Anyway good luck and please update us with what happens, and I'll do the same!
