Dealer Made Me Laugh

I went to my dealer yesterday to drop in some documents and he took some details for the free 7 day insurance and he asked me to pay for my car before it has even arrived in the country! Did he really think i was going to do this.... he said it was something to do with his sales figures or something but i refused to pay before i had time to inspect the car. Has anyone else been asked to pay for their car early or do i look gullable.

I was asked to pay a month before it arrived. Apart from the fact the garage could have gone bust with my cash AND car like you I wasn't paying before I'd checked the car over. x

This seems to be pretty common place - my dealership basically said to me that either I could pay now or I could pay at the time of the delivery and pay the additional for the october price increase.

We ended up getting them to agree that they would enter into an agreement with me if I paid early to preserve my right to inspect etc.

They just want to register the car this month. They will get paid big bonuses if the sell a certain amount of cars this month.
They should tax your car for a year and a week so you will not lose any money.
If they told me that i would have to pay more because the car has gone up I would tell them where to go. My last car went up after I but it was not even mentioned by the dealer and I the amount on the original invoice.
If they want to register your car this month but you pick it up next month i would ask what they are going to give to me, as they will be making money if you agree.
