Technical Dead Doblo

[gutted girl]

I am feeling devastated as i have just found out my dearest Doblo has driven its last mile and carried its last load.
Has anyone else had any BIG problems with theirs?
Its a 2001 doblo ELX 2L diesel and was my pride and joy but when driving along the m11 last week the engine blew a whole and spilled out oil everywhere.
Fiat have quoted nearly £2k plus VAT for engine:yuck: plus £300 surcharge plus labour so think its gonna be laid to rest

thought about a second hand engine? how badly has it gone?

Could probably get a second hand engine and get a local garage to fit it maybe? depends how much the car is worth i suppose

Really sorry its under such sad circumstances though.........

I had a Doblo for about 30,000 miles ( an 02 model JTD ) with no problems.

In fact the only Doblo engine failures i know, was one owner who changed his own cambelt, did not do it right and it subsequently failed wrecking the engine.

Then a 1.9D from Spain on this forum that seemed to have been neglected and was worn out at high mileage.

Fiat diesels, the actual engines, are top notch though and I have not heard of a catastropic failure writing the engine off in the Diesel Doblo`s.

What engine is it ? the D or JTD and if you don`t mind me asking, what exactly was the failure, mileage and cause?

That info may help others here with the same engine.

I really do hope your luck improves next time...
