De-icer myth or reality

deicer is the devil. its bad for rubber, plastic, metal and paint. it strips away polish and wax immediately. it rusts any bare metal. its a terrible thing to use on your car. its a great cleaner, but you must prepare any clean surfaces afterwards.

and im sure someone told me pouring HOT water on icy windscreen can crack the glass. is it different for warm water?
