Surely if you're really really really carful, you can fill the little holes and put a smidgin of touchup paint over the top?Failing that, just buy another badge

PMSL

I had the exact same problem... However Fastcar were giving away free badges that stuck on the car. so i got 2 and stuck em over the gaps!

But to sort it properly, you need to weld a small plate behind the holes, fill the outer part with filler then rub it all down and spray it. Thats what i'll eventually do, but i'll also remove the handle and lock (mk2)

If you did it your way Luke1985, the filler would fall out if you went round a sharp corner and the body flexed.

To fill in the holes, you'd need to recess the holes first.
Once they have been recessed you would apply the filler but make sure it goes through the hole and 'mushrooms' on the other side.
Then wet n dry flat, lots of primer, paint and lacquer.

On the other hand, get some new 'fiat' and 'uno' badges and colour code them to match the car, looks great too!

Considering the size of the small holes, you wouldnt get anywhere near the amount of body flex going round a corner - especially as they're on the hatch not on the main body so the flex would be taken at the hinges. I agree if you fill the whole back to take the way handle/lock etc, but just to cover the badge holes.. :)

I disagree, the flex wouldnt be taken out at the hinges. Lots of people have had the filler just drop out when they close the bootlid too, never mind how small the holes are, and the amount the bootlid shifts is suprising. :)

If you were getting rid of the handle/lock etc, you wouldnt use filler anyway! It just wouldnt last! You'd weld a metal plate over the whole of the bootlid then use filler to blend and smooth it in...

Im only telling you as if you did it your way, i dont think it would last a month before it started to crack.

i know, i never said i was going to do mine that way. i was only describing how to get rid of the 2 small holes... Thanks for the concern anyway tho (y)

Erm, that sounds to me like you said thats how you'l do yours...

Yep im all confused now!

ok, sorry to bring all this back up.

i'll hold my hands up chris.. i did give you the impression that the above was what i was going to do. But i can assure you that i didnt indend to do it that way at all cos as you said, it wouldnt work. plus had some good inspiration for my rear end (on the car obv..) now (from i robot)

The best way to fill the holes is to find a nail with the same diameter head as the hole mig weld the nail into the hole then cut of the nail shank and grind the head flat.sounds long winded but it works well with just a thin skim of filler to finish off.
cheers
Adrian
