as long as they are LED i don't mind. I drive with my sidelights on all the time, and when i used normal bulbs - it damaged the bulb holders after a while.
Ever thought your opinion may be wrong? Lights might be auto but there is nothing stopping you turning them on yourself.
notice you have a gray car is it just me or do some colours Gray, black, dark blue, Silver seem to blend in to the road in certain conditions?
Gray/silver cars in particular in fog/heavy spray
i run my headlights most of the time especially going to and from work as the sun is low in the sky blinding oncoming car drivers so anything you can do to be seen is a bonus in my eyes
you wont see headlights surely, as headlights are nowhere ear as powerful or bright as the sun, so wont be seen over the dazzliness of the sun. (if that makes sense)
Depends where sun is reflecting. If off windscreen you'll see lights still, as dazzle doesn't just block your vision compleatly in the day.
but then if you could see the lights,m as the dazzle is just off windscreen, then wont you still be able to see car then without it on?
When you see the sun reflecting off of a metalic object 1/2 mile down the road how can you tell its a car, or just a house window?
Doesn't happen often, but has happened in the past.
The key would be if its metallic, it's not going to be a windowWhen you see the sun reflecting off of a metalic object 1/2 mile down the road how can you tell its a car, or just a house window?

Since my car doesn't have DRL's I use sidelights in conditions where visibility is reduced e.g. in bright, low sunlight.
same here
if its a dull miserable day, perhaps raining, then I would use my sidelights, and I would stike down upon anyone with great vengeance and furious anger, somebody who crashed into me and says "I didnt see you"
I like them and think they're a good idea (even though better driver education would be a better idea), but mine nearly caused a crash once when some silly cow thought I was flashing her when I went over a speed bump.
There should also be an option to turn the rear lights on seperately. The number of times I've needed my rear lights on but not my dipped beams is ridiculous, but I can't do it. I'm forced to either drive with just the front DRLs on or both dipped beams and normal rears, and then the front lights might be dazzling people unnecessarily!
And for the poeple who say that people who don't notice a car during normal daylight shouldn't be on the road. I can guarantee you that you have pulled out and all of a sudden there is a car right behind you from nowhere and had it of had DRL's then you'd have been aware of it's presence all along as it got closer and that's safer as you may have had a better judge of it's speed and not even pulled out infront all along.
