Not he had a really hard game and did brilliantly considering the french were blasting the ball at him most of the game. (am i defending an Englishman?)

Not. Had no option. Commited - had to go for i and played a good game all night. Gerard to blame for the last goal.
BUT! Its gone. A lot to take away from the game. We showed we can eventually defend. France were good in the second half. Kept us back there for 45 mins. We have usually struggled in defence but kept them out for 45 mins.
Come on! 2 games against Switzerland and Croatia. We can do em. Same stadium against the same team in a couple of weeks.

all four players contributed to the loss, i am no massive james fan but i just think he may be made a scapegoat out of this.
england played well enough to win but they dident.
remember when man utd won the chimps league against bayern munich ? well what a lot of people forget is that for 89minutes of the games man utd were shite
similar story against porto this year in chimps league, man utd were the better side and then 90th min goal scored.
this is football this is why we love it !
we had 11 heroes on that pitch tonight and they played there hearts out against the best team in the world and made them look average, we were unlucky i won't remember this game any other way

got to agree with Wimy here, we more than equalled the so called best team on the planet. stupid mistakes and luck are the difference in a competion like this.
I watched the Switzerland Croatia Game and hold no fear for our qualification.

James' usual weakness was crosses and going walkabout. Tonight he held on to everything hit at him and even managed to punch well. He had one shot to save as such and he did so. Great solid display.
Henry looked for the penalty. He played the ball perfectly away from the keeper and yet made no attempt to follow it - as professional and brilliant player. James commited and the rest was inevitable. Henry, love him or tonight, loathe him, is simply class and his quick feet and thinking were spot on after 90 minutes of a quiet game for him.
Gerrard was a bit poor with his back pass, but given the situation for once he was tired and missed that Henry was still there. Apart from that I thought he had a good game.
I thought Beckham was below par tonight although the penalty was purely a brilliant save (obviously there is an element of luck too) from Barthez.
Rooney - brilliant and I still stand by my shoot Heskey. That substitution was terrible, a 1/2 knackered Rooney is better than a fresh Heskey.
Ledley King was a true star tonight as was Sol Campbell in the 2nd half. Ashley Cole was good going forward but lost the ball a couple of times, G Neville was just lucky not to give away the ball as often as he does normally.
I cannot understand though why Silverstre and James were allowed to stay on the field?
Also, we were lucky not to have my mate G Neville not give away a penalty. His arm was up but what made me laugh was that if you noticed although the ball was going towards his arm he still attempted to head it!
