As much as I'd like to see a Brit win something, I really do dispair when these supposedly intelligent people even consider Coulthard for a drive with the Jaguar/Red Bull team. Now it looks more and more certain he will get it.

The bloke's clearly not going to win anything and even less likely heading to a lesser team. I predict he's so crap that he'll be outperformed by his inexperienced teammate (probably Christian Klien) for what the tenth year running!!!! Why why why!!! Hire Davidson!

Although i am a Ferrari fan (not a glory i've always supported them) i have to say its a bit of a shame but i reckon Ferrari will have sealed the deal for 2005 already! i just can't see anyone getting near them.
Although, new rules and new cars so we'll see i guess! (y)

I like DC and hes a nice guy...just aint too good in an F1 car.. I think it may be the extra drag caused by his angular shaped jawline.. No wonder his necks so wide with the extra muscles he needs in it, to counter the forces his jaw must create.

its a real shame Button wasn't in a ferrari that would make it interesting..
Remember the year Damon Hill was in the Arrows at the Hungarian GP I think it was.. And he was leading the race till the last few laps when his car started to have problems..unbelievable drive.

But then the back end does look at bit like his face

Haha so true - I do like Coulthard he's a nice bloke and especially being British but come on he's had his chance and proved he's just not good enough...

The worst thing is, of the present F1 drivers Coulthard is the 2nd most success full after Her Schumie (13wins), and is I think something like 4th in the all time scorers chart for the amount of points won in F1, so for a team like Red Bull wanting more TV exposure time & therefore more sponsorship money, he is a more sure fire bet than any other driver touting for business, as they are assured of exposure & points, because F1 is a global business after all, but it would be good to have someone young & talented to drive with him to learn.

He is also one of the people who own the patent for the HANS neck safety device that is compulsory for all F1 drivers to ware.

By all accounts he is one of the smartest & most astute of F1 drivers but I think his over analytical mind makes him not as fast as he could be if he just went for it & therefore he will never be a champion, though I would love him to be as he is Scottish! :D

What a stupid thing to say

I'll apologise this time next year if Coulthard beats him. But I don't believe he will. (Mind you neither have been confirmed yet).

As I keep saying I like Coulthard but I don't think he deserves a drive just for being a nice bloke.

I have to go with J333EVO - David Coulthard is a very good driver, and one of the most experienced, and can give a team like Red Bull an unbelieveble amount of feedback information on set-up, suspension etc.
He just doesn't seem to have that ultimate killer instinct - or at least, he didn't whilst he was at McLaren. But then that may have been something to do with Ron Dennis. I have a lot of faith in David, and expect him to be the dominant driver in the RB team.

(However I fully expect that comment will be remembered at the end of the season if he doesn't do well.......)

By the way Dr Pepper, you are joking about Klien beating him? What a stupid thing to say
Thought I'd bring this up, as promised, a year later.

Coulthard was outqualified by Klein 8 times to 7, despite Klien being in only his second season after an abysmal performance at Jaguar the year before. Klien was faster than him.

Coulthard did get more points but he also took part in more races and was the team's number one driver. I maintain. He is rubbish. Why has he still got a job...?

Well considering it was their debut season red bull, under new ownership etc, they didnt do a bad job and got many more points that what people envisaged

Unfair to slate him as rubbish, he was solid, yet unspectacular, and red bull were after an experienced driver who could do a job for them, and thats what they got, even DC i reckon was suprised by how well the car performed, if he didnt think they had a bright future maybe he wouldnt have signed for another season.
