I have a 2.0ltr 20 valve HLX
For some reason my dashboard dials have stopped working, although not all of the time. All other parts of the dash - warning lights, mileometer etc. all work fine. Just the Fuel gauge, re counter, speedo and temp gauge have the problem.
Can any one help please.

Hi Stuart and welcome to the forum :D

My first thought would be one of the services fuses, but on checking I cannot find a fuse which matches your particular symptons. Fuse faults tend not to be intermittent as well.

Best bet would be one of the earthing points for the dash. Right dash earthing point is used for temp guage so that would be best place to start. Sorry but I don't know exactly where that is located.

Be careful that you don't have the key in when messing about behind the dash or you could latch in an airbag fault.

Good luck.

Polecat,
Thanks for that, I will give it a go.
At first I thought of a fuse, but like you say fuse problems are not intermitent.
I'll let you know how I get on.

Polecat,

Although I have'nt been able took look at the wiring as yet. You must have sent some vibes through, because my needles are workin again.
What ever you did thanks.:D:D

Hi all,
I'm still having a few problems with my dials. They seem to work most of the time, then with out warning they just stop. I have checked every thing that I can see. No loose conections etc.
The Fiat dealer (with out looking at it)has told me that I need a new dash board, appears a bit drastic to me.

Any more ideas ???

Sounds like a typical Fiat dealer answer[xx(]

I don't have the wiring for the 2.0 20v but...

...on most of the other models the feed to the control panel goes from the ignition switch, throught the junction unit (the one with the ignition, horn and rear windscreen relays on),and then to the control panel.

So I would check around those areas again. The only other common item I can see is the right dash earth point as mentioned before.

So...
Ignition switch, junction panel, connectors and earth.

And that's me stumped, sry:(

Polecat,
Thanks for that, I will give it a good going over.
