Punto (Mk1) dash elecrtics

Hi can anyone help,my husbands not into car mechanical work,We are having problems with all the lights on the dash either working or not,Speedo and petrol gauge will work sometimes then don't ,Also it's draining the battery at times,Any ideas welcome

when you say the dash lights, do you mean just the instrument cluster or all the buttons on the dashboard as well??

I'm guessing that you mean the instrument cluster doesn't light up sometimes but sometimes it does... In which case i would try taking the cluster out and cleaning up the contacts first - but if they don't ever light up the bulbs might have just blown.
