I need to replace the near side pair of contacts (on the boot and on the body of the car) that make the circuit for the rear washwipe and heated rear windscreen. They have been shorting and have melted.

Where can I get hold of these parts (cheaply!) ?

Thanks

Simon

Boot contacts

Find you local car dismantlers via Yell.com or the like and pay them a visit. There are lots of Bravo/as in the scrapyards unfortunately. I'd be surprised if it cost you more than a fiver.

Afterthought........

...while you're at it, check the fuse in place to protect this circuit hasn't been replaced by a nail or something similarly stupid. I know the rear heater element has a high current draw but I'm surprised things have melted without the fuse blowing.

It is good practice to keep these contacts clean using light wet and dry and then a smear of vaseline, maybe only once a year. It's not the most elegant way of completing an electric circuit and it causes lots of folks bother.

waderider it doesnt blow the fuse they always melt on the inside happened on mine well still is :D but the fuses are fine just cause blinkin chaos when trying to rear wash wipe the window :D
