DAB for Fiat 500?

With all the talk in the UK at the moment about the demise of FM radio and the inevitable switchover to DAB does anyone know if a plug-in/software upgrade is available for the built-in head unit in the 500?

At some point the FM radio module will become obsolete and I'll be left with a CD/MP3 player and little else unless I can find a way to introduce DAB without having to cut the existing unit out of the dashboard.

I was surprise when I ordered the car in 07/2012 that a DAB upgrade wasn't on the options list as most other manufacturers seem to offer one.

I have a pure highway for mine but still trying to work out how to fit it and be able to still carry a passenger in the front seat.

i was reading up on this

Some say 2014 some say 2015 some say 2016

Anyway - alot of manufactors dont offer it yet
apprently the signal isn't good enough everywhere for DAB, so they dont bother with it

I'll be a case of alot of cars will have Aux in DAB radios running of the 12v Socket

Sounds like an opportunity for someone to design a retro-fit plug-in module and make a fortune. Any electrical engineers reading this?

There's a couple of units already,autoDAB is one,totally hidden install and it's controlled via the stereo's controls.

2015 was the aspirational date in the Carter report. Based on sales, coverage and yada yada, it won't happen for a long time yet.
