Hi chaps my 1986 Panda 4x4 needs a need cv boot ! I've split the lower ball joint and the track rod end . Is there anything retaining the cv? Please help

Which side your working on?
Ideally the best way is to drain the gearbox oil and remove the half shaft to work on bench as it is tricky to release CV while shaft in situ and you risking the inner cv boot as well.

There is a cricular metal clip holding the shaft inside outer cv ball cage.

Clean as much of the grease as you can and you should be able to see/feel where the slot is, work with circlip pliers (outside). New CV should have the clip inside so have a look on the new one.

Hi cheers pal I'm working on the far side I've seen one person undo the two 19mm bolts on the shock, remove the locking nut and move the disk and the rest of the bracket clean out of the way leaving the drive craft in place ?

You will struggle to seperate the outer cv joint from the shaft with them both still in situ, not mentioning getting new boot and grease in.

CV should be removed fron hub anyway.

Normally i would leave the bottom ball joint attached as the two shock bolts are easier to undo. with loose top of the hub you can tilt the hub and withdraw the outer cv from hub. Support the shaft and work on cv.

Extra time to drain box and undo the 3 bolt flange will be less than total when worked on parts still in situ.

Ps . shaft nut should be undone with wheel and car on the ground as it is tight.
