on doblo 1400cc 2007 how much more work is it to replace inner cv joint boot if outside one is being done [n/s]the drive shaft has couple of mm play and oil seal is weeping [no play in other side], would replacing the oil seal be pointless

and is the bearing on in or outside of the g/box
thanks

If a CV boot is being changed on a drive shaft then often it is just as easy to replace both, the amount of extra work involved is negligible.

depending on how much it is weaping, you'd have to make up your own mind if its worth while, if its already taken apart then again it might be worth fitting a new oil seal at the time.

When you say bearing I am not clear on what you mean. The CV joint at the gearbox is a type of bearing this is external, there are internal bearings in the gearbox as well that the drive shafts will be engaged with, generally any bearings inside the gearbox are sealed for the life of the box, you can overhaul a gear box if you are so inclined but often its easier to just obtain a new box

i meant the g/box bearing that shaft slides into , so the bearing is not external then, i though it might be on the outside and in a housing

i also thought [could be wrong] that outer boot can be changed without removing shaft but lots more work would be needed to remove shaft to replace inner boot

thanks very much
