AS Essentials all the way. They are very helpful so give them a call and say what you need to do. They will sort you out.

When doing it you will need to do about 4-5 layers. Then a layer of sound deadening. Then another 4-5 layers and more deadening then do the same again. The deadening will provide bulk and strength.

It sounds to me like your going ahead with something without properly planning and working out a rough thickness over your air space?

Where is the enclosure going and do you realise that for most enclosures you need to make an mdf frame (again to add bulk and mass)? It would be a shame making something that takes so long and sounds aweful. Let us know your plans and we can help you.

ok here is my plan.

Using the original Mk2 Sub enclosure as a guide. Trace that on sheet of 18mm mdf. From there add on extra near the bottom so it touches the boot floor and over the wheel arch. So if u can imagine i just have 18mm mdf fixed where the old standard sub use to be. From there drill and attach 3 18mm mdf legs with a 12" MDF ring. Streatch Fleece over. Tack in place.

Resin
Fibreglass 3 or 4 layers
Bodyfiller
Primer
Base Coat
Clear.

Attach in place with the 3 bolts that use to hold the standard sub inplace

I cant remember exactly waht the standard sub is like but you may get a better fit if you butcher it for shape and fixings. You can just reinforce the back with MDF.

3-4 layers is nowhere near eanough and you need sound deadening to add mass.

all the videos ive seen they dont use sound ded. they just use fibreglass and bodyfiller. Does the deadning go on the outside cover over with fibreglass

Here is a similar install for an Alliante. I would say that most subs need more layers and deadening because they move a whole lot more air than this sub.

Please note that a normal sub would need much more air space too.

got fleece now metre by 6foot for £4.20. What you think of my amp setup. still got to finnish the back plate thats just a quick preview what it will look like. before fleecing
