I have wanted a custom stainless steel exhaust for a long time but thought the cost would be too high compared to the value of my car.
Last week I went into an engineering firm with a stock exhaust and asked what it would cost, the answer for one was £450.
But it would be cheaper to make more, ie £350 for three, £325 for five.
So my question is, is there any one out there who wants a free flowing, lighter, 100% stainless steel exhaust system?

Everything would be stainless steel including the mounting bracket and manifold flange and made from high quality t304 stainless. Slightly bigger diameter tube, twin exit pipe like in the photo. Designed on the late model exhaust, so minus the central bracket that hooks up onto the gearbox. Two year guarantee from the manufacturer.

I mentioned that stainless steel exhausts were available cheaper on a well known auction site, but upon examination he dismissed them as cheaply made and poor quality stainless steel.

Interesting idea. the guy its happy to dismiss the competition as being cheap but only offers a two year warranty??? just sayin...

Not sure about the tail pipe design? I like the Ansa style tips. Or just something basic.

If I needed an exhaust I'd probably bite your arm off...

I'll mention the guarantee to him when I see him next week!
I like the twin pipe ansa tips and they said they can do something similar if I wanted, or single exit pipe for the same price.
They do exhausts for all sorts of motors and were working on an Aston Martin when I called in!

HI Sledgehammer,
I wondered if you had any takers for the exhaust? I would be interested but it would need to be consigned to mainland Spain. Could the company do this, please? I would also prefer a single tail pipe as it is being made to order. I can only go for the £350 (plus p&p), if you have managed to get another buyer. Thanks

Hi, the general consensus of opinion seems to be....if I needed an exhaust system I'd go for it...
I will contact the company and see if they can meet our price budget for two exhausts.
I can easily ship these worldwide.

Great. Let me know how you get on please. I have a Gran Finale 1989 X19. (We communicated earlier this year regarding a flashing hand brake warning light).

Hi Roy, got an email back today and its £400 for two exhausts, so that's more than I want to pay aswell. We really need two others to step in for an order of four to achieve £350 each. They can then make up a jig and make more in the future at the same price.

I misread his original quote, not three required to achieve £350 but four.

That makes three of us with a flashing brake light then!

Hi Guy,
Thanks for that. Shame but if you get any more takers, let me know. I dont "need" an exhaust but would have bought one in preparation, just in case!
Do you still have my email address - or you can pm me?

Flashing brake light - I think that some do and some don't.

On Monday my exhaust sounded like it had rusted out and let go. I thought - ah time for a new stainless one...

But it turned out to be the timing had slipped and I suspect bent the valves a little. Still drives but has lost 20%+ power.

Oh no! There's all ways something with these cars! Hope it's not bent valves. What engine did you put in to yours?
