I have a 155HGT, I think a going to need a new exhaust manifold soon. I'm wondering what the cost and benefits are of having a custom one made. Is it really worth it? I already have a custom stainless steel back section (from cat back).

Its really worth it if you do the cams and a full ECU or Dastek to map to the engine.
Info coming out VERY soon about cams for all modesl :)

Smee, do you REALLY think you are going to find a big box with 'Fiat Bravo/a supercharger' on it?

You don't get these sorts of things as kits, you have to custom make everything.

How much are we talking about here for cams!(1.8i) my bloody thing is dohc so i guess its twice as expensive! :(

You can send me details to...

[email protected]

...if you want, its very much appreciated!

Yogis has C&B cams on a 1.8 with a dastek and gets 150BHP peak.

oh oh oh plz sir me me me

stick me on the seriously interested cash waiting list for uprated manifold (or uprated anything really)

I want to die peacefully in my sleep like grandpa, not screaming like the passengers in his car!

Re: oh oh oh plz sir me me me

There are plenty of people who will make custom manifolds, mostly for bikes. Costs £££ though :(

I don't have a suitable tube bender so can't make them.

Re: oh oh oh plz sir me me me

i had a quote for custom manifold for my 1.4 (yeah pointless i know but i wanted the bling factor)

and it was over £400 (maybe) he just said £400 minimum

the c&b cams is what i am after, combined with a superchip i am hopeing to push my wee little 1.4 to around 100bhp-105bhp which is more then enough for to-from work :)

Re: oh oh oh plz sir me me me

100BHP from a 1.4 is supposedly easily reached with a cam and a chip. I knew a guy with a 1.4 which showed 100 on the rollers.

re

i dont mean to offend anyone, but i dont see point in spending fortune on cams etc for 1.4 etc etc, surely for same money you coudl get 50bhp of nitrous and end up with more power. . .

I only ever put induction kit and exhaust on my 1.6 and that was only for cosmetic sound and looks really!

Re: oh oh oh plz sir me me me

@B....you could get a 1.8 engine for that price probably...113bhp standard! Also, where is my E-Mail? have you got mine?

@Tom....Is it worth my while with cams etc? or should i just get NOS? i can put that in my next car as well then! what are your oppinions on NOS! i was gonna get 75bhpish! so i have 200bhp when its on!

Re: re

i know what you mean allan, i have considered this quite a bit.

but i am keeping my car for another 3 years and after the ammount i have already done, transfering the mods onto another higher spec engined bravo simply isnt an option

and plus with nos it is filling it every few weeks, it would be a pain. superchip with the cams etc all fitted and tunned for the 1.4 is a hell of a lot cheaper then you may think, about the price of 75bhp nos fitted.

with a few extra bhp it will do me nicley untill i am ready to put the old gal into storage and buy a alfa gt in 3years :)

Re: oh oh oh plz sir me me me

He'd need all the other bits to go along with the 1.8 such as brakes :)

I'm not a fan of NOS, its all or nothing. I like a bit more flexibility from an engine :)

Re: oh oh oh plz sir me me me

I will be sorting the prices out tomorrow for the cams.
If you want a quotation for NOS and adjustable (controllable) NOS and installation let me know as our business partner does them for Skylines normally but will fit them to anything.

Re: oh oh oh plz sir me me me

Why would he need brakes?

I am sure he aint gonna go racing with it, he wont have to brake any quick then he does now? or are you reffering to the engine being heavier, and needing new brakes to stop the extra momentum? even so? is it work it? Like he says, to work and back!

I know what you mean about nos but it will give me the extra power to over take or smoke some HGT's!!! :) , how else can i get 200hp with out it? Yogis has spent loads, and it is only now a HGT!!

I need you advise oh great one tom! :)

Re: oh oh oh plz sir me me me

Really Nige! How much are we talking?

Re: oh oh oh plz sir me me me

Yogis does have one very quick 1.8, I think peak torque is better than the HGT, JUST.

As I've said before, tuning modern non turbo cars is hard work. Most of the time they have been well designed in the first place and you can only get a few BHP.

Its not like the days of A-series and ford crossflows where the engine had been designed by chaps with paper and pencil and were FAR from ideal. You could sit down with an a-series head and a grinder for a few hours and for the cost of a new head gasket and a new carb needle you'd have 15-20% more power.
