Hi,

I am planning to do just that, for 1242 MPI turbo. I will use 2 inch bore all the way, no cat. What I am not sure about are the silencer(s). I know that the turbo itself quiets the exhaust already. So at first I thought I would just fit an end box big enough and that would be it. But I can see problems with clearance against the shock absorber (not uncommon I know). So then I am thinking:

- a micro middle silencer, like this one: http://www.jetex.co.uk/website/images/U405120box.jpg

- a midi end silencer, like this one: http://www.jetex.co.uk/website/images/U415129box.jpg

Am I on the right track here, or will it give too much/too little silencing/flow restriction?

Cheers,

Woj

Thanks, also for the picture, any reference material is always useful ;)

Any more opinions? /Woj

Either will work -- the middle boxes usually only take out unpleasant resonances (if any) and will be easy enough to retrofit.

Yes, I plan to go flexible on the whole project, so I will have a piece of exhaust mid pipe to be easily replaceable with a silencer. I was rather asking what should be my first attempt, and I got the answer I was looking for (y)

I made my whole system out of jettex mild steel parts.

Used a thin middle and a medium rear silencer.

System is 1.75" until just before the rear silencer, where it steps up to 2"

Very happy with the whole thing, would do exactly the same again.

Woj - i dont think you will gain anything from going 2" unless your car is a turbo.

Yes, it is (yet another) turbo project - details to be posted when there is enough to report on ;)

Oh, and BTW, do you have any pictures?
