Yo fellow Stilo owners. Been a long time since i was last on here.
I've just had a custom backbox and tailpipe fitted to my 1.8 3 door stilo.
It now has a decent size letterbox tailpipe and new backbox, all stainless steel. Don't need the radio anymore just listen to the growl of the exhaust.
My apologies to all Abarth owners, got aftermarket fiat sideskirts fitted to my car, not trying to impersonate an Abarth just trying to make it look a bit sportier. Will take a pic of my new exhaust and post it here soon!!!

They look perfectly fine if you don't have a rear splitter, mine was nice before and after but you do need to be quite carefull about what type of tailpipe you get..

Here's mine before i had the splitter on it.

I know one thing for sure. My car looked better with the twin tailpipe and no splitter than it did with the poxy tailpipe that comes as standard, so I know for sure what i would choose...

I had some before and after shots of it but i deleted them after i got the splitter :bang:

i cant agree with you more than on that point, why they put such a bad pipe on the stilo i dont know, if only they'd made it an inch shorter so it didnt emerge from the bumper it would of been great.

Dont get me wrong id rather have a custom exhaust any day over the standard, i just think they look funny without a splitter

Well I ordered a full Supersprint stainless system & BMC carbon dynamic airbox today & was sent a lovely invoice for £720

Way to go M8 - I'm jealous you've got Supersprint before me!! When you say full system do you mean the manifold as well? The £'s spent will be well worth it.

The exhaust sits under the bumper i'm afraid, no splitter.
It is still far far better than the standard exhaust.
Got a made by a local guy, only 150 notes for pipe and backbox, fitted, with a lifetime guarantee.
It doesn't point straight out the back, it is angled to suit the curve of the bumper.
Will put a pic on once i've donated to the forum.
Sounds quite loud inside the car, sounds even better outside.

No only the centre section & backbox so it's a cat back system if you like A: I can't afford the manifold ( £478 or something on it's own) B: I need at least 1 cat it still has to pass an MOT. Stu the next thing I do will be to sell the Eibachs & plumb straight for the Bilstein kit & uprated anti-roll bars (if I can find them). If my wheels don't show then I might think about a remap.

Thats pretty good, you must have got the manifold cheap as we do the centre section (814803), rear section (814709 or 6) and CDA (CDASP05) for £650 all inc. for remap customers - and that doesnt include the SS manifold!

So whats the extra BHP increase with a SS exhaust then from the cat back ?

Is it really worth paying a couple of hundred extra compared to the powerflow for example ?
Just curious because when i was looking for mine, i was told the SS would give me a 8% bhp increase if it was the FULL system, but the powerflow would give a 4-5% bhp increase for just the cat back system..
I figured that pound for power, the powerflow would be a better option ?

I think that you'll find the Supersprint will actually give you 8bhp not 8% whereas a backbox would only give you say 2bhp. But it's not so much about the overall power figure it's to do with letting your engine breathe properly & then there's the fact that with a stainless steel exhaust you never have to replace them (should out live the car) (y)

My powerflow was a stainless steel one with a lifetime garantee so i suppose its the same with everthing, you get what you pay for.

The supersprint was one that i was looking at when i got mine, but i needed something that could be easily resituated as i knew i would be adding to the car over the years.

So an 8bhp increase is what, about 6% and a 2bhp increase is only around a 1% gain if it's the cat back system. seems to me, that there's not enough difference to warrant a few hundred more quid especially if the cars only going to be kept for 3 years max on my account...
Hmmm i think i made the right choice for me.

Don't get me wrong here, i'm not trying to say you done the wrong thing buying the SS exhaust. i was just trying to confirm to myself that I made the right choice for what i needed.

The SS exhaust sounds wonderfull too, although i have only heard it on a Honda S2000..

I hope you can get us some pics Ben, of the new system (y)

excellent mate, any idea when your gonna get it fitted, i can't wait to see the difference it will make..
Maybe if we ever meet up at one of the FF meets I could bring my camera and record some sounds of the SS system on an Abarth ?

Again no worries m8. I might not get the parts fitted just yet though (mind you I've got to wait till next week till the y turn up) as I wouldn't mind rolling roading it to see how much it's got at the mo (theres a place in Luton does a session for about £50) & then fit the bits on & get it done again so I'll have a before & after if you like. :D
