it was at £2995 on ebay and the autotrader a few weeks ago.......

no extras like leather otherwise it would have been a nice buy

As someone on this forum has theirs up for £5700 (John Cooper) I reckon this is a good price. Don't be put off by the lack of leather - the Prestigio interior is a big step up from the lower spec models. I recently sat in an Eleganza and was disappointed by how it felt - a definite step down.

Try one - the seat material is quite close to suede in it's 'feel'. Bear in mind how few 2.4s there are in the UK, if you're limiting yourself by waiting for leather or the (frankly of limited use) ConnectNav etc, you might be in for a wait. Pretty much everything else comes as standard in Prestigio spec anyway. If this one has had the cam belt done, at that price it's very good value (on the face of it, anyway).

Hi guys, I bought the car that you are talking about!! I dared stray away from Fiat for a few months and got bitten badly. When I saw you talking about how he had been stuck with the car for a while, I tried my luck and am very happy with the outcome. Apart from a small crease in the drivers sill, the car is absolutely immaculate and drives like a new car! It even has four new tyres and full Dealer service history. The cambelt and a full service was done in November so I don't have to worry about that for a while. Everything works, including the sunroof (after I sprayed the runners with copper grease) and I got 44 mpg on the drive home. Can't be bad

Changed the lot! The old ones were in a box in the boot. He thought he was gonna get 5k for it (which it should be worth) but ended up giving it to his wife to use. She did about 1500 miles since the service, which is better than it being stood about for months.

Tell me about it, missus wanted one, could not find one!! but her Elly has grey leather, but besides that is a standard Elly spec.

Thanks for that - I think I will bid on it but I'm a bit concerned as it has failed HPI and has outstanding finance. Also if you look at the report it's condition 3 and scratched on most panels but I can't tell from the pics how major/minor that is.

Anyone if anyone else is thinking of buying it let me know as if possible a bidding war is to be avoided.

Greg

With lots of chips on the bonnet and front bumper that cant be the correct miles ! I know someone who bought at auction and the car had outstanding finance. The finance company repossesed the car and he eventually got his money back from the auction house, but it was a real pain and he had a battle. I thought the auction houses would have checked for outstanding finance and if there was any they would not sell it. Does the keeper have the right to sell the car before they settle the outstanding finance?

Turns out you are right, the miliage on the car and the DVLA records don't match I have been informed. They will sell it with no trial/no warranty on the miliage and declare it to be incorrect - could be as genuine as had a replacement speedo or it could have been clocked or something dodgy. Problem is I still haven't been able to get them to find any documents for it and without the details off the V5 you can't check the previous MOT miliages which would have given an indication of it's true miliage eg if it's done 50k or 185k! Other than the age and not that many people knowing/being interested in them it's perhaps why it was sent out to auction.

Well I didn't get it, it went over book price maybe it was really nice in the flesh (I couldn't attend the auction so spoke over the phone). If anyone spots any others let me know please!

How much did it go for/did u bid ? I dont understand the prices/values of these Croma's, they seem to be all over the place. In the past I have found wisebuyers.co.uk to be the most accurate guide for most makes/models. I thought about a 2.4 but the official fuel consumption figures put me off. I went for a 1.9 150 auto, it did 48.3 mpg on a 420 mile motorway run this week, which I think is very good and the 6 speed auto box is a delight, super smooth. I have driven a lot of auto's and other than a CVT box in a £30,000 Audi A6 I had, its the best auto box I have driven.

Hi, I'm a bit worried if you think the A6 box was super... they are my bread and butter working on them and I find the silly 'emulation' of a geared box with 'changes' and the usual inappropriate lugging of the engine at the wrong time/revving too much at others annoying. I can't say they are bad and they are efficient (till they go wrong, they have one of the worst reps - known as 'multichronic' on the net) but they sure did miss a trick not setting it up to keep the engine rpm steady in the turque peak (or power peak if flat out) as the CVT had the capability to do, instead of the emulation of a standard auto box.

Anyhow - the Croma, it went for late 3k's which was well over book and my trader friend said he wouldn't touch it unless it went for 2-2.5k. That other one took about 6 months to sell at 2995 (though with higher miles) so I can see his point. Turns out the miliage was about genuine so VERY low (the discrepancy was some small admin error one mot) and I'm told someone there really wanted it and was willing to pay whatever for it - luck of the auction. I was willing to pay good book price but couldn't really risk going over as I'd want to buy/fit leather and it also needed service and cambelt - the latter being a bit of a task even though I run a service repair business so all the work would be done in house.

I guess I'll just have to wait for another to come up :(

Greg.
