Technical Cracking sound

Hi I have recently purchased a used Ulysse which failed its MOT because of wheel bearing problems. I have had these replaced by the MOT garage but now I get a "cracking" sound when I put full RH lock on it. If its a cv joint I would have thought that would have been picked up by the MOT. Any ideas as to what else could be causing this?
