On, speaker cones will last no time at all otherwise unless you are VERY careful.

lol yea thats what i thought but a few ppl said it look ok, just best to get a general opinion and i gotta agree with you on the cones
If off make sure you don't have any kids in the car. They seem to like poking at things. As I found out at work (Electrical retail) had a nice Panasonic stereo on display with cover off. Say no more!!!!!!!!!
on, speakers should be heard and not seen

gotta agree with you there lol, anyway they wer a very good bargain from CarAudioCentre, supposed to be £130 but i managed to get them for £60, very happy with that

id keep them on if your keeping that shelf but i think id buy a stealth shelf , there sound alot better once there on something sturdy.
