Right folks, I knew that hitting the 100k mark would see the Bravo needing a couple of things...heres the scoop!

Im sure the clutch is on its way out. It's not slipping as such, but it doesn't feel right. Biting point is too high and theres not a huge amount of travel on the pedal. Classic symptoms. In addition to the rattling headshield the engine seems to have developed a slight new rattle (though not tappeting) - would this possibly be a bearing in the clutch ala with the MK1 Puntos?

Also Ive had issues lately with the bonnet release. Theres not much tension left in the pulley, and when the bonnet is open I feel I have to manually push the release handle forward - towards the bulkhead - or the bonnet wont shut. Is this just in need of a tighten or is it a new cable jobby?

In ref to the clutch does anyone have any recommendations for a good/cheap mechanic? Anyone competant enough to have a go???

For your clutch, try kinnons garage in westhill. They seemed to do a good job on the HGT's MOT and the labour is cheap £25.50 an hour.

The alfa will be getting a new clutch there very soon.

youve got a bravo mate your always gonna have trouble with the bonnet release catch :) but you may need to greae up the latch on the slam panel and make sures its pulling itself back properly and then tighten the cable up a bit or you can replace the cable altoghether if you wanted to and check the latch on the bonnet making sure its not passed its best as ive seen a few motorway horror stories with the catch breaking :)

The latch was recently changed (did it the day of service as I recall. Good bloody thing as it caught the bonnet one morning on the way to work!)
