Hello everyone,

I was wondering if its possible to put another engine in place of my 4cyl 16v non turbo engine. If it is possible (without too much mods) i would like the new engine to obviously to be a little more powerful but not too much where i will need to upgrade brakes, ecu, gearbox etc.
I know i'm asking for a lot here, but advice is needed as my engine is blown and was quoted a shade under £1000 for a standard rebuild.

Is there any other options???

Many thanks

Lot of options..join and ask on Fiat Coupe Club UK. www.fccuk.org. They have a load of good advice, mostly, except some of the mods have their heads firmly up their bums...

Which part of your engine is 'blown'?

2.5 Alfa V6 from a 155 should fit though uses a different gearbox. or another 16v engine can be had cheaply anyway. alfa twinspark should be able to use the same gearbox, as long as you change the engine from a fiat 16v you're going to need to change ecu. brakes are as standard 284mm so should be able to take more power, assuming you don't go for too big power increase.

I'm not up on coops but wouldn't a 16vT engine just go straight in with ecu and other associated parts? and maybe gearbox? (assuming it's different from the 16v non turbo one)

upgrading brakes would be a good idea but not priority

brakes are usually the same size on these,if you swapped the full subframe you would need to change the struts, also some rewiring would be required, and decoding the factory immobiliser.

also try finding a decent engine!
