General Cornering Lights

Yes and the Northern lights won´t help that much when the winter
comes ... :D

Good option to have. Congrats to you of the new Bravo to come !

Thanks(y) Havent actually ordered yet, but I am going to next week as soon as the Astra is valuated for trade.. Wrote on the signature so I dont have to change signature next week:p. The decision is taken(y)

To those who have asked why it's annoying me......

I do plenty of town driving, especially in the evening due to running the kids to various sporting clubs. Now the idea behind it is very sensible especially if you're going down dark lanes. (y) But......

What gets me isn't the fact that they come on when cornering but more-so when you're sitting at the traffic lights or a junction (in the dark) and you have your indicator on and the relevant fog lamp decides to show it's face. It's more of a "what must those people be thinking about me" moment to be honest. Are they thinking, "look at that, a new '59 plate car and only one fog lap is working already" or "look at that motor, I see the dodgy italian wiring of the 70's and 80's never went away". :bang:

I know it may sound lame but you'd think there'd be an option on the computer to disengage it.

Rant over. :D (y)

May the lord help me:bang:

I have just arrived from a trip to Bath only to be pulled over by the police about 1 hour ago!.... for having my front fogs on.
I didnt have my fogs on they fought i did... but of course its the cornering lights that did it.

They pulled me over and told me to step out of the vehicle and told me its againist the law to have your fogs lights on... i said i know but its the feature of the car.. when i offered to demostrate they suddenly became all defensive and told me not to move... after been transfered to the pavement.. they then began the ususal crap of ' have you been drinking sir'... i didnt touch a drop btw... they described me as been red eyed... ive just come back from a 2 hour drive at 2am, i was knackered, so i got breathalized.. i passed that.
They then asked me if they could do a search of the car... i said ok and they found a few roll ups in the centre console( they werent spliffs - they were just normal rolling tabacco). they said whats this... i said there just rolls up, so they ripped up the paper and said "ok", the other officer found a torch and tools in my boot... this was going to be a long night lol.

I had gto explain they were from the other evening when i helped my friend install pads on his fiesta.

I finally got around to demonstrate the cornering lights and to see the coppers faces after all that was hillarious!! lol.
They must of felt like right ****s after all that but they still gave me a producer:D

For peats sake havent they got better things to do?:bang:

I think they look great and perform well. Only thing is, they´re useless
during the day. If you don´t like it , go to the nearest Fiat- dealer and
they connect it off. (Twod)

Should have just a button on the dash to turn the function on / off.

Ok ! ( WreckMaster ).

If the Police decide to argue, you can show them the 'feature' in the Owner's Handbook (which no-one ever reads :bang:), page 56 (External lights).

I love these cornering lights, in our back streets its fantastic

Another thing i noticed today is the rear wiper comes on if reversing with the front wipers on

Fandabbydozie:D

They only activate with your main headlights on so why would you be driving round in daylight with your main lights on. The side lights are sufficient in daytime low light conditions.

See plenty of plonkers driving round all the time with fogs on both front and rear with not a whiff of mist or fog to be seen. The real twonks drive with their sidelights on with fogs activated '' Look at me i have got fog light fitted on my 15yr old crappy ford fiesta''. Never seem to get stopped by the scores of plastic policeman in their new shiny hi viz jackets that walk around aimlessly in my neck of the woods.

I assume you mean 'dipped beam' headlamp, and not mainbeam?

And no, side/parking/possition lamp are NOT sufficient in daytime low light coniditions :bang: If they were why are DRL's on DRL fitted vehicles not a measly 5watts per side then?!?

Its people who seem to think that parking lights are for driving with that cause accidents. They only time they should be used in my opinion is when parked.

*rant over*

We had a hire-car Bravo in Kerry earlier in the year - I thought it was a fault at first but eventually worked it out  It's true tho; I did have a "people will think I've a bulb out" moment. I couldn't decide if it was useful or not, tho the Irish roads gave me plenty of opportunity to test it out

I agree with MEP: sidelights are for making sure people see you when you're parked up

On the subject of parking lights, I only recently discovered that we have 'directional' parking lights, controlled by the indicator stalk.

Back to the subject in hand, I don't give a flying ***k what anyone else thinks. Paranoia is for wimps. ;)
What I do have reservations about is, as has been mentioned, someone mis-interpreting the light.

Funnily enough, last week, in the dark, another Bravo pulled out of a turning about 50 yards behind me, then followed me for about 4 miles. How did I know it was a Bravo? Yup, turning lights. Only an idiot would mistake them for being flashed with headlights. But then ,there are a lot of idiots on the roads!

Quite alot of the Merc's have cornering lamps in the fog lamp's. See alot at work coming to our forecourt, and when driving in citys always see them and did at first think 'oh look, a new merc with only one foglamp working' :p

the lights on my mums lexus swivel around when she goes round corners... only noticed it a few weeks ago when she was driving out the garage and started turning right :p

Going slightly off at a tangent...
They were available on higher spec DS models from 1967 &were fitted to all SMs (except for US-spec cars) However, on the DS &SM, it was only the high beam driving lamps that steered, rather than dip as well; useful for modern road conditions where main beam can rarely be used.
In Citroen's current range (C4, C5, C6) the system only pivots to 15°, unlike the 80° of the original DS system. At speed, this will make no difference, but at low speed and large amounts of lock - such as a hairpin bend or a gate - it will make a big difference.
On the original system, the lights were connected to the steering by a system of wires and rods On the current system it is run by a computer
