Coolant Temperature

Recently my HGT temp gauge seems to be getting a little warmer. It never goes above the half mark but i'm slightly concerned. It normally stays around a 1/4 even if i've thrashed it. Now it goes to just below half. When i looked under the bonnet water seemed to be bubbling around the cap. Is this normal? Any ideas will be appreciated!!

in my 1.2 normal running temp is at halfway mark.
is this different on the hgt?

i'm not sure although when i first ran it in never went above 1/4. now it always remains below half at running temp

my JTD expansion tank seems to bubble aswell even when starting from cold, not sure what goes on.

Yeah. I always love seeing people Hospitalised due to facial scalding that will scar them for the rest of their lives!

@ Nick - My HGT has always gone to halfway on the temp gauge once warmed up with the fan kicking in half a notch above.

@ Scott, I would get your head gasket checked. If you are getting bubbling in the expansion tank then air is getting into the system. Most likely cause would be that the HG is blown but it may be a leak anywhere in the system. Had the same symptoms on my Punto.
