Some years ago I remember watching an episode of Wheeler Dealers when Edd (yes, it was that long ago), as a prank, used an OBD2 device to change settings on His mates car. I’ve even seen devices that will control the central locking and windows via a smart phone linked to an BD2 dongle. That got me thinking….
my Fiat 500L dashboard is awful. Mainly because the instrument binnacle is too big for the small steering wheel, but that aside, because the instruments are too dark. I find myself running with headlights on simply because I need the instrument binnacle lit up.
is there some way to use an OBD2 device to reconfigure the binnacle illumination to switch with the ignition instead of with the main lights? Are there any other tricks that the 500L can be made to do through that interface?
