Hi,

I have just bought a 04 Auto Diesel Ulysse and I am very impressed indeed. Wonderful to drive and the specification of the vehicle is excellent. Makes my Renault Scenic look inferior.

I have been looking at the forums and it looks like I can update my navigation software. The question is how?

I have registered the software with navtech but don't know whether I will be sent an update or not.

I have also seen discussion about the RT3 software which is available on the eurovan site. The latest version is v5.52a b773 (26th February 2007). Can I download and install this? I have not seen this version mentioned in the forums but have seen v5.5d b595 mentioned and a few people seem to installed this fine. Are there instructions on how to install this. I figure I need to burn the image to a CD. Do I then just put it in the Ulysse and that's it?

What exactly does this update do? What does it change? Is this linked to the navigation software or is that separate?

Thanks,

rohanale

Hi,

Welcome to the forum...

In answer to your questions. the RT3 software is not the actual navigation maps software though it can control various things like how the voice sounds for directions etc. It is basically everything that shows up on the screen (I don't know if you have the small Green or large colour screen) You will not be sent an update in fact from my experience most Fiat garages have quite an old version. I was not aware of this new version, maybe Stuart can shed some light. There should be instructions with the download but the most important one is not to switch the engine off when the updating is progressing. The CD (at least in the earlier updates) does eject and re-insert itself twice (I think) You should also remove the sim card if you have one inserted as apparently an incoming phone call can cause the update to fail. If it fries your unit it is very, very expensive to replace, £2,000 +. Even when it appears that the update has finished wait an extra 5 minutes to make sure. I know that the couple of times I have done it I have been sitting there hoping that nothing goes wrong. You should check to see which version is currently loaded. You press the menu button on the radio and hold it for 3 to 5 seconds this will show the version.

You can find the latest RT3 software at eurovan2.com. You need to carefully follow the installation instructions (such as leaving the engine running and removing the SIM card).
updated maps you need to buy from Navteq or FIAT or Peugeot

I know this is an old post but this may help someone else looking to upgrade their rt3 sat nav to version 5.5d.

Download and burn onto cdr the above .cue file at a speed as slow as you can. Put into car stereo slot and it should say something like'reading data' followed by several loading screens. On my Ulysse, the cd ejected, was sucked back in, then the stereo rebooted with hissing on the radio indicating that the radio settings had been updated. The Fiat logo was then displayed for some time before the screen went off. About 5 mins passed and thinking that I'd buggered the stereo, I went in for a cuppa and returned 10 mins later to find the cd sticking out. On turning the ignition, the screen was back, system updated and 'backup' sat nav disc now working.

I guess the update either just takes a long time or needed a power cycle. Maybe someone else can advise here but the link for the firmware is above and working. Cdr used was cheapy Morrissons ones burnt at 8x speed.

Good luck

The best thing about the update is that it plays mp3's on the head unit, just wish there was some way of making the 6 CD changer do the same!

Mine took about 5 minutes to upgrade and did eject a few times before completing. I have the 2011 map but wonder if anyone has the 2012?

Where is your multichanger? I thought I would have one in the glovebox but nothing there plus it is very smalll. I would like to add one purely so that I can keep the sat nav disc in.

Ours wasn't working when we bought the car - not surprising as I found a fairly large piece of the "cill" (foil) from the neck of a wine bottle in the changer mechanism... sorted ;-)
