I got my new car on Last Friday but the sat-nav only talks & displays French!

The dealer said last friday that they would have the new disc yesterday but guess what no disc!

Now I am told that the disc will have to come from Fiat head office & will take a min of 2 wks but could be longer!

This is not what i call good customer service, I have had a Ford Galaxy for the last 6 years with no problems but it seems in the 5 days I have had my ulysse I`ve had more problems than ever!

Hi,

If you look at another Forum on here, you may have version 5.32 [and not 5.31]. The difference being is that 5.32 setup disk is not available to owners, due to the fact you can do some serious harm to the system.

I think one or two of us out there still may have 5.32 in their possession by mistake. I only have 5.31. Maybe you can check your system details on the screen - do you know how to do this?

And when you do convert to English, you'll be disappointed (apart from the possible bonus of being able to understand what the hell's going on) cos the English voices are rubbish. The French ones sound waaay more realistic.

Well, I must admit the male voice is horrendous, but now got used to that female one!

Must try the French option one day - lock myself in the car and....enuff said....

Been lurking for a while awaiting my Eleganza(2nd hand so hopefully no surprises)and found this forum a great help with my first couple of days, managed to work my way around the connect but still able to get myself lost :I
How do I find out which version is loaded?

Well what do you know!

I made a call to Fiat Customer services on Wednesday about my "french" Sat-nav! Well on Thursday am we got a call from the dealer saying the new setup disc is in & can I take over my car for the upgrade!

Now its all english & is well better!

Got in touch & contcted nav-tech all joined up now!

Just one thing does anyone know how to set up the connect- system? I still cant use the service?

And my dealer still has not given me a Connect-Nav Handbook, Has anyone got one of these rare book??

Paul

Hi,

Just got back from the land of bacon (Denmark)and they have 180% tax on cars. The Ulysse would be around £40K+ there.

You should have had a Connect Nav book and a form from the dealer to activate. You should chase them.

Hi

Paul, there is already a discussion on this forum that has 95 odd replies about how to get connected! All the answers should be there. OK? But feel free to ask if there is anything you don't understand.

Hi again,

Dave H - to find out what version you have, keep your finger held down on the menu button. This should come up with another menu, one of which gives you the info. you need - I think it is called 'system details'. OK?

Stuart

Hi,

Not really a Connect Nav query, more Telematics. Did you realise it comes up with a 'black ice warning' on the screen on certain stretches of road - it must look at the outside temperature, which flashes as a warning anyway, but then it must also look at what the wheels are doing re grip, etc.

Clever!

Stuart

Hi,

It just comes on when the temperature drops below 3 degrees, it is not linked to the wheels. As the temperature varies as you drive it will flash now and again.

Poggy

Hi.

Thanks for that - it was the wife who noticed it, at certain junctions around the village. I know the temp flashes a lot when it is a cold, but then this screen came up as an additional warning. I just presumed....again...lol

Hi,

I have two questions about the Connect Nav system (not the NAV+). I have a copy of the brief manual, but it doesn't contain many details on the system.

1) has anyone been able to successfully play mp3 CDs? I've tried a few different ones that work in other players, but it looks like the CD player is standard audio CDs only.

2) is it possible to display the road name on screen as you follow a route (the roads that the synthesised voice attempts to pronounce)?

Dan

Dan,

I've not tried to play MP3 disks. I assumed it wouldnt, but not tried.

You can use your nav to display road names. Set the display mode to navigation, but dont have any destination programmed. As long as your cd is in the drive it'll keep the display up to date. It doesnt speak it out though.

By the way: has anyone else noticed that if you leave the CD in the drive, it constantly "seeks" (I can hear the mechanism searching up and down the disk) even when I switch off and lock up. I Assume it does it all night! - maybe thats why mine packed up!

Froggy

Hi,

Froggy, my disk also "seeks" constantly. I think it starts once you unlock the car or something. Not quite sure when or how it ends after you lock up though.
