Hi Everyone,
I've got a bit of a problem. I recently bought a Sony Minidisc player for my car. It's second hand from a friend and it worked fine in his car the day I bought it.
Anyway, when I put it into my Punto, for some reason the Minidisc didn't play. What I mean is, there was playback with the seconds counter going on, but no sound. When I put the volume to the max you can hear that noise, same noise when you play a blank tape on full volume.
Another thing I noticed is that when I switch over to the radio, everything is fine. The radio plays and sound comes out. But not when you play a Minidisc. Anyone have any suggestions of what the problem might be? I don't think that the discs are dirty cos' they play fine on my Minidisc (Walkman).
Oh yeah! I've checked and made sure that the discs ain't blank!

Thanks in advance for the replys I recieve!:)

Cheers.

Which head unit is it? My MD for the car wont play on long play at all!! All discs have to be realtime discs.

EVERYONE- SPRAY YOUR PUNTOS BLACK

Its a "SONY MDX-C5970R MINIDISC PLAYER". I can't load up the pics for some reason, but I'm happy to send you a pic of what the head unit looks like, just let me know.

Cheers!

Just to let you know that there's always quite a few of them up for auction on ebay. Nice site by the way @ Wimmy!

The C5970 is quite an early MD headunit, I believe. It does not play Longplay (LP2 or LP4 discs). If you try to play a disc and where the display should normally show the track/disc name it will say LP: . If you are not using Longplay recordings then I don't know I'm afraid

Sorted... Basically its to do with the format, like Mr Mazza mentioned. This specific model won't play in LP2 and LP4 format. If you wanna play a disc with this model then all the songs that are formatted onto the disk have to be formatted as "Stereo Format" and not LP2 and LP4.

Cheers for the replys everyone. Hope this helps other too!
