After trying everything I know (changing vacuum hoses, inlet manifold gasket, injector O rings and afew other bits an bobs I've cleaned up and ressembled and a general looks about) my mk2 uno turbo still won't idle when its cold.

when cold it still runs between gears, but if you pull up or stop at a junction is cuts out unless I have a few rev's going.

once warm it runs like a dream, just when cold it struggles to idle and stinks of fumes.

I think the cold start is A problem, it kicks down the idle way too soon (like 7-10seconds, wheras I think it should be more like 1-2mins!!!)

Or possibly ecu/injectors dying.

the flapper box seems to be working fine as once warm it idles and goes right throughout the rev range smoothly and without fuss.

anybody know if you can replace the cold start valve?

ah I see!!!

was looking for something around/under inlet manifold, will go and find it now.

can they be cleaned out/brought back to life, or is it easier to buy a new one, if so fiat garage? just my local one is now about an hour away

See if there is a resistance across the pins. I have just checked my known good spare ;)and it has 50 ohms across the pins. If open circuited I wouldn't bother cleaning :). I can blow through the pipes too so I'd guess they get stuck shut when the car plays up at cold (not letting extra air bypas the butterfly valve).

Don't know if still available through Fiat. Perhaps you could try Andy of Desira Fiat (Diss) on 01379647216. They used to send stuff out to me. It's a Bosch part and similar valves were used else where :). If your really stuck try a second hand one (y).

Edit
Please Don't pay this top whack price!!

Yes - as Louie says and shows.
I had a similar problem, so I changed the auxiliary air valve, and it definitely improved the warm-up time.

It's a bimetallic device so not inherently very adjustable. Better to get a spare first and try that to verify the improvement, then tinker with the old one later. Or get a new one if you can - similar design to that on lots of German cars.

I would suggest not to touch the AFM (flapper) unless absolutely necessary - easy to stuff up.
