cold start problems

Recently got some problems with me Bravo 1.6litre from 1996. The engine runs poorly when it´s cold the car is jumping like a kangaro and it won't take the gas. If I try to give it full trottle there comes a "bang" from the exhaust system. For a while ago I had problems with the idle speed it was switching between 900 and 1500rpm but solved the problem by cleaning the connector on the idle air control valve. Could it be a dead ECU running in back-up mode??

Spark plugs and maybe plug leads. Start with the plugs.

Just got the plugs changed and the kangaro thing stops after 5-10 minits of driving. No problems when the engine is warm.

Age of car? If its more than 4-5 years get the plug leads changed.
