Hi,
Ebay Item 271275445368 should work OK. I've bought from this seller before without issues. It has been already been "modified". The modification is removing a 120 ohm resistor connected across the CAN bus (pins 6 and 14) that is a design error. If you are handy with a soldering iron you can DIY one of the cheap ones. To see if you have a modifed unit just measure the resistance between pns 6 and 14, if it's less more than 500 ohms the unit is OK, if its between 100 and 150 it has the resistor fitted and it needs to be removed.
Multiecuscan is good as is AlfaOBD. You may need an adaptor lead for some modules there is a vehicle compatibilty list on thr Multiecuscan website. An old Windows XP laptop is fine to run these, you might even get one on Freecycle.
