Just been looking at one of the books i got with the car and it lists the model code as 182 and the version code as 1560. Will these numbers help in any way in identifying the injectors in her or am i going to have to strip the injectors out to get the type?

getting the correct injectors is easy. you need them from a mk1, basically any 1.6 that has a metal inlet manifold on top of the engine.

if there is a black plastic manifold on top of the engine (or it is a T reg or newer) you do not want to take injectors from it.

Thanks for the responses you guys, now i'm off to get my haynes to find out what the inlet manifold looks like  I'm not exactly one of god's born mechanics lol.

Is the inlet manifold right at the front of the engine with the dipstick just in front?

yep, i see the jug light and jump straight in the jugmobile. :D

there are 2 parts to the inlet manifold, lower and upper. the bit right at the front of the engine is always metal and called the lower inlet manifold. the bit on top of the engine that is connected to the lower inlet manifold is called the upper inlet manifold, this can be black plastic or metal. the upper part connects to the throttle body at the back right on top of the engine, and branches into the 4 ports at the front of the engine.

there are some pics on this forum to show you what i mean, i'll try and find them.

Looking at my engine it's metal all over the top (I'm taking it that the upper inlet manifold, from your description, is the bit with Fiat written on it?)

here's a black plastic manifold. its the big black thing on top of the engine. (y)

you DO NOT want to remove injectors from an engine that looks like this.

you should notice the engine in your car does not have a black plastic manifold like the one in the picture.

Thanks so much for your time Jug, i know i ask some pretty silly questions. You're patience is truly appreciated mate ;)

hellcat you could have used a recent pic with my blue airfilter on and painted cover
that old one looked nasty.

haha

besides my car is a 1.8 so the head is the other way round to a 1.6. :D

inside out would be impressive.

but i mean my inlet manifold is at the back of the head and exhaust at the front. on the 1.6 the head is rotated 180degrees so the inlet manifold connects at the front of the head and the exhaust at the back.
you dig?
