Technical Code P1D84 - what is it?

My check engine light turned on and warned to get the transmission checked. I went to a transmission shop and they said they couldn't figure out what the code meant. There's closest fiat dealership is about a 2 hours of a drive. I called them and they didn't even ask what model car I had before telling me they can't help me unless I shell out $210 to look at it. It was already shitty service, so I don't want to go there if I don't have to.

Does anyone know what this code means?

(The check engine light hasn't turned back on since I took it to the transmission shop. So I don't know if that's a good thing or not)

I appreciate it. It’s one step closer to figuring out what’s going on.

Now the question is whether I go back to the transmission specialist or if I go to a mechanic to get it looked at.
