hi all went to start the wifes 1.2 stilo to go out today and started flashing up bat flat ebd ,abs, asr failure and the pad lock signe came up on the dash all so the engine light lit up oringeso we took it out thinking it would clear it self pad lock went off but light stayed on for the engine so i put the reader on it and it showed code p0606 pcm processor fault so i cleared that and started it again this time it came up with on the dash ebd.abs &asr failurebut still runs grate & no engine light on could really do with some help:confused:

might just be a battery problem, low voltage during starting and in cold weather generate all kinds of non-existing faults in Stilo's due to narrow voltage margins of it's electronic parts....

well just thought i would let you know the memsaab took the car to work this mornning after i cleared the p0606 code yesterday which was still saying asr and all the other things still flashing up on the dash after i cleared it so i phoned to see if any probs and it was free from all flashing warnning lights and no probs so i tride it with my key which was in it when it went into silly mode and now works perfect so any idears cos i think im going mad:bang:

Re: code p0606 help

well it come up on the dash again today asr abs failure yellow star said about the battery so i have been out and bought a multi meeter to day but dont know what to set it on to test the battery or how also how to test the battery earth lead so could do with some help please it has not put the engine light on this time and when it started all the asr and other things went off

sounds kinda bad... :( but dont panic JUST yet as said a weak battery can cause all sorts of undesired and phantom faults

on your multimeter you should have a letter 'V' with a wavey line next to it (Volts AC) and a letter 'V' with a solid straight line and a dotted line underneath (Volts DC)

you need to set your meter to the latter and you may have numbers within that section for instance 200m, 2000m, 20, 200, 400 (these are indications of the MAXIMUM voltage to be tested if you select 2000m and test a 12v system you will blow your meter)... for use on a 12v electrical system you should select the 20 denomination.

take readings directly across the battery terminals put the red lead on the '+' terminal and the black lead on the '-' terminal

post your readings for the following:-

keys out of ignition with no lights on (ensure the interior lights are off) you should get a reading of around 12.4v (if its less than about 11.8v then i would initially suspect a weak battery)

get somebody to start the car and note the reading when the engine is 'cranking' i.e. when the starter motor is running.

with the engine running note the reading this should be around 13.6-14.2v

please post your findings so that we may help more!

... or how also how to test the battery earth lead so could do with some help please...
im not convinced this would be a ground issue (although its nt unheard of) but your more than welcome to eliminate/include it using this method:- find a jump lead from a neighbour/friend clamp one end onto the '-' terminal and the other end directly to the body (one of the smaller bolts where the suspension top mount is bolted to the suspension turret/directly onto the engine or gearbox) this will confirm or deny battery earth lead issues...

like a bad penney back again with moore info did battery test today with engine off it said on the meter varying from11.6 to 12.17 it was different every time i put the meter across it when cranking the engine over it said 10.6 & with engine running it was reading 13.94 so if you could let me know what you think and if the battery is getting a bit week thanks for your help again

11.6 to 12.17 volt with engine off indicates a weak or poorly charged battery.
your charging voltage is just moderate, most Stilo's charge with more than 14 volt.
The low reading during cranking is within limits with low temperatures but depending on the age of your battery i would consider a new battery, preferrably 74 Ah (or more if it fits your battery space).
Stilo's generate all kinds of error messages due to low battery voltage, changing my 60Ah to 74Ah solved most of my error warning message problems.
