Hi all,

This is my first post, I only discovered the forum last weekend but have found it really informative - the "Guide" section even prompted me to order some parts and have a stab a few things.

Anyway, I bought my Fiat used last year and never received the CODE card. I would now like to obtain the code. Everything I've read everywhere says that any Fiat dealer will give it to me no problem subject to a small fee.

Well, I've rang two different dealers today and yes it's no problem to get me the code (from Fiat HQ I assume) but they want 50 EURO for it ! I obviously I expected there to be some sort of admin fee, but 50 EURO is crazy.

So I'm wondering, similarly to getting a replacement key chipped and CODED, there are some specialist places that can do it much cheaper than the Fiat dealer. Is there any other such channels (specialists, websites, software) for getting the CODE card number or is the Fiat dealer the only option ?

Out of principle I'm not prepared to pay any more than 30 EURO. The only reason I want it is because I've only one key, the cost of getting a spare cut and code is unjustifiable for me (even the cheaper non-Fiat guys) and I was hoping to combine the CODE card with non-chipped copy of my key I got for 7.95 so that at least if I ever loose the key I'll have some sort of spare to be able to drive to a auto locksmith with.

Appreciate any advice anyone may have, thank you !

Hi, welcome to the forum :)

The old key system was easily cloned without the code, unfortunately there's no way around pay the prices FIAT set for the Code2 system. I know that's not what you wanted to hear, at least being here can help you save money on other aspects of FIAT ownership :)

Ah I suppose its the answer I was expecting... but thank you !

At least I have my spare non-chip key to open the doors, pop it neutral and sit behind the wheel whilst being towed :D

Yes, I agree really great forum - nice to be able to ask a simple question without being told "You shouldn't have bought a FIAT" lol
