I recently bought an 81 x1/9 that's been sitting for 20+ years with 52K miles on it. It was taken apart for restoration and partialy/quickly put back together to sell it. I tried to bleed the clutch but the master clutch cylinder seems to be seized up and I'm working at removing it (being a bit of a pain). The question I have, though is, as I was trying to bleed it, I noticed the clutch lever at the slave is almost against the bell housing for the transmission. When I took the slave off, the lever moves freely up to about a quarter inch from the bell housing. Surely this can't be right. Is there an adjustment I can do? Also, this car had a broken 5 speed in it, but the previous owner swapped it with a 4 speed from a 79 x1/9, not sure if that makes any difference.

Thanks,

- Matt

i will check the clutch bit out for you , having a 4 speed will mean that the engine will rev higher in top gear , i have a spare 5 speed if you want to make an offer ( depending where you live of course), pm me to diccus more.
