Got a 99 1.6 weekend sx.When I press the clutch down, there is a vibrating noise. No problems changing gears, and as far as I am aware the clutch isn't slipping.

Any ideas as to what it could be?

Is it an expensive/long job to do?

Quite a big job, needs the gearbox off. Could be pricey, although the 1.6 should be a lot cheaper than I paid for my 2.4.

And will it be ok to still use the car?

For now, although when they fail they go suddenly. I'd be talking to garages and getting prices asap. Check your breakdown insurance is up to date!

Hellcat paid £1040 for his. Now i have to wait even longer for my birthday present :(

You gonna tell him Hellcat?

Indeed I will...

Noooooo! Don't scrap it just because it needs a clutch! You could sell it/scrap it, buy another car, and have its clutch fail after a month. If you fix it at least you know it is good for thousands of miles. Think about it. I could have bought another 130JTD for a little more than I paid for the clutch - but I should have at least another 150k out of it on this new clutch.

Get some quotes for the job.. I'll ask at my fav garage on Friday for a quote and lets see how little we can get your noisey clutch replaced for (y)
