I have just bought an uno -93 on a k 1.1ies 45k on clock. I got it cheap as it needed a new clutch, replaced clutch but problem is still there!!!!!!!
It goes like this!!!!! ->

when you are ina queue you tend to keep inching forwards - you find the bite point and depress the clutch pedal disengaginging the gear.

If I do this repeatedly in mine the bite point gets progressivly closer to the floor until the clutch pedal is hard to the floor but the damn thing is still in gear and moving forwards!!! its then when i have to wrench it out of gear (which the car hates judging by the noise it makes!!)

Sometimes when driving along, i go to change gear and there is no resistance in the clutch pedal at all, it just goes straight to the floor!

It a hydraulic clutch so we checked the seals for leaks (none) and blead and replaced the hydraulic fluid(resurvoir was full)

We thought it was the pressure plate as when the clutch was getting close to the floor, the clutch lever-arm was still in the fully extended position. We replaced the clutch but the problem remains.

please help as i'm beginning to think i have bought a lemon!!!!
 
Hi, welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately I can't help with your problem and it sounds like a very annoying - and possibly dangerous thing. My biting point is odd, I get a bit at about 2cm from the floor then nothing until practically fully out when I suddenly get full power. It makes it a bit of a challenge to drive but I am used to it now.

Is there an automatic adjustment which is over adjusting and needs to be replaced?

I have no idea why Fiat added a complicated hydraulic clutch on a little - what should be simple - car.

I am sure someone more in the know will get back to you ASAP.

The fault you described may be due to a faulty clutch master cylinder. If the inner piston oil seal is defective, progressively the fluid is returned back to the reservoir, causing the pedal to go lower, without fluid leakage. When slave cylinder is at fault, it leaks. FIAT dealers don't longer supply repair kits, but a generic one may be obtained from an autospares supplier. The piston return spring in the master cylinder may also be weak or broken.

I agree with cooper, it's ur master cylinder. If you need on drop me a line and I'll give you the email of someone who can help you out with a second hand one. I have a spare one myself but would like to hold on to it for now.
 
Hello. I just registered after reading these posts. Our '92 Tipo Forza has just started doing the same thing. If you pump the clutch five or six times it stays down and the clutch won't engage (ie you can't get in or out of gear) It then returns if you press it a couple more times. Can be a bit scary when it starts creeping in traffic! We replaced the slave cylinder last year so I'm guessing the master cylinder may be our problem?

Also Has anybody else encountered the spring from on top of the clutch pedal falling out? I'm presuming it's just to damp the pedal and stop it feeling too severe? I put it back but it doesn't appear to atach to anything. I really should go and buy a Haynes manual, but we're thinking of trading it for a new Panda after the summer so I'm really just trying to keep it going :)

Yup, it's the master cylinder from the symptoms you have descripted. If you do it yourself (not TOO difficult), it's a 50 generic or 75 original pound part and a bit of mucking around. A garage will charge you around £60 labour.
 
This has just happened to me in the garage now.. [V]

I will let you know the result - inital thoughts is that is the master cylinder.. hope it's not too expensive..
 
Yepp. This ain't the clutch, it's one of the cylinders. Now you have a spare clutch for later. That can come in handy.

Well it turned out to be both the master and slave cylinders that needed replacing. replace the slave (which was leaking) first off - didn't work. then replaced master. worked. £100. Uno - Like a dream.
 
I am having this problem as well.

Is changing both cylinders do-able for a relative novice or is it best to get it done at a garage?

Anyone know a method of fault diagnosis to determine which cylinder is faulty?
