Clutch issues

He this has probably been covered a few times but here goes.

I set off for work yesterday and when i turned the engine of i could here a discreet whining coming from the engine bay. When i pressed the clutch in the whining became more of a high pitched screech. I figured the slave cylinder may be the cause from what i read but thats all fine. The screech seems to be coming from inside the casing :/ however my clutch still works and theres no smell or anything to say its burning.. Please help

This would be better in the section specific to your car.

If the noise was there after you turned the engine off, so the engine was not turning, the noise cannot be the clutch. That sort of noise with the engine stopped would normally be pressure escaping. Knowing the model would help.
If the noise is with the engine running, could well be clutch release bearing.
