I had a couple of issues with the clutch on our Fiat 500S.

One was sudden loss of being able to disengage the clutch, the other being if you rested your foot on the clutch, after about 5-10 seconds the pedal will sink as though the clutch is losing pressure.

I have swapped out the slave cylinder and that has resolved the sudden loss issue, but the issue of the pedal sinking if you rest your foot on it has remained.

There is no loss of clutch fluid, and no leaking on the quick release joint, it has been fully bled and if you don’t rest your foot on the clutch, it works fine.

I’m suspecting the master cylinder has also failed and will need replacing, but before I stump up nearly £150-£200 on a part, which most of it will be discarded as I’m not touching the quick release, I just wanted to check if this was also the experience of forum members and I haven’t missed anything else.

Hi,

A, don't rest foot on clutch pedal it will rapidly wear out clutch components.

B, the symptoms are classic master cylinder seal worn.

Best

Thanks all, I’ll swap out the master cylinder.

As I’m not messing about with the quick fitting and leaving the existing pipes in situ I was looking at these -

Anyone experienced with these?

PS- it’s the better half’s motor… she’s the foot on clutch kind! It’s now teaching her not too!

Seriously....parts in motion do the exact same febi part and they are in UK, free delivery.
The place you linked is not free delivery so will take longer to get to you and cost more.

Sorry I apologise it is out of stock at parts in motion )-:

I have used autodoc just make sure to tell them to note your account "no substitutions if brand you order is out of stock "
Plus not everything they list by registration number will fit.....ask them to check fitment by your vin before order.... that way if it doesn't fit they have to pay return costs.

Ordered the LUK one off eBay linked above. It arrived this morning.
Of course she’s gone out in the car so I can’t fit it….
