I now have a horrible rattng noise when I put my clutch rght to the floor. I have been told it sounds like the bearing and will probably need a whole new clutch. Anyone had this problem and not had to replace. Any ideas how much a fair price would be to get the whole thing replaced?

Thanks in advance

the way you described it, it sounds that you may have the clutch bearing that have gone south on you.

i would suggest that you do not drive the car any further than to your regular garage and get the whole clutch kit replaced.

my 1.4 started doin that n i left it... when my clutch went n ended up drivin home 4rm newcastle along motorway bout 50... garage said the clutch had fell apart on me... my advice get it checked/replaced

Thrust bearing = new clutch.

shop4parts are selling them, delivered, for under £90. But you'll prob pay that again for the fitting...

New clutch being fitted right now. Managed to get a garage to supply and fit for £220. I thought that was a pretty good price I as I am not supplying the part myself.

I got quite a few quotes from a number of garages and one tried to tell me the part was £230 and I would need to pay £420 all in. You can imagine the language I used when I declined the offer.

Good price there :)

Didn't sound too healthy last time I saw you.

Hi mate i had exactly the same thing on mine,

it essentially was the release bearing wearing away and the scrapping noise was where the clutch had worn away so much that it was hitting the springs in the middle section, and the clipping of this metal was causing the rattle.

i know this because i was curious enough to make the mechanic put my old clutch in in the boot and it was trashed and had done its job to the full i could see where it had worn away.

be aware though i never had my slave cylinder chnaged the same time and i think i will need to in due course if i was you i get both done at the same time.

mine cost at a good garage, £230. S reg 1.6 Brava.

cheers Gary

Luckily the guy that did it is a mate of my best friends boyfriend and he showed me the clutch when I picked the car up. Mine hadn't worn tho, two parts had actually snapped. he said he had never seen one do this before.

He is also gonna do my service and had a thorough look at the car to see what work is needed. (MORE money as usual)

glad you got it sorted. :D
i wont need to hear that horrid noise again...
oh no, wait, that was just Kriss i think....
