Modified clutch cable available from Ricambio (they now have an Ebay store)
It is possible to drive without the clutch cable (with practice).
As long as its not up a hill its possible to start the car in gear to get at worst out of the way and at best home (if you can find a flat route with as few junctions as possible.
Find a flat empty car park and try it,
turn off the engine and select first gear
release the handbrake (if on) and crank the engine until it starts (the car will move forwards so look where you're going !)
once your moving gently increase the speed and then throttle off and pull the gearlever out of gear, you need to move the lever when the car is neither accelerating or decelerating(if you get it right it will pull out of gear as if you had declutched)
if you then quickly hold the lever gently against second gear(you'll get a feel for the pressure needed- its not much more than you would normally use so don't force it) it should drop into gear as the slowing engine matches the road speed for second gear.
the same goes for the other gears except fifth which needs to be selected faster due to the ratio (difference in road speed to engine speed) being less than the other gears.
If you never get out of first at least you can get out of the way.
To stop either pull the gearlever out of gear (by finding the spot where the car is neither accelerating or decelerating) , switch off the ign or brake until the engine stalls.
Going down the gears is the same as going up except when you get the car into neutral you need to rev the engine (one good blip of the throttle should do it)before going for the next gear due to the fact that the engine will be running faster in a lower gear at the same road speed.
